    Written on 26 June, 2009 – 10:04 pm | by dedyisn | 250 views

If you usually using facebook as your social utility to connect to your friends, you should know about chat feature in facebook. In this article, i just want to share my experience how to make facebook chat feature accessed from pidgin in linux especially on ubuntu hardy 8.04.
First of all, is downloading the pidgin-facebook package from code.google.com. If you using pidgin on your Ubuntu hardy like me you must install libjson-glib manually first because it’s require by facebook-pidgin. I’m download libjson-glib package from interpid library here cause there is no package for hardy.

Installing Picasa photo viewer for ubuntu linux

    Written on 26 June, 2009 – 8:53 am | by dedyisn | 134 views

By Default, in Windows XP, The Picasa Photo Viewer is installed with Picasa and lets you quickly view, edit or share photos on your computer desktop or while navigating your hard drive. You can set the Picasa Photo Viewer to be the default photo viewer for all photo file types supported by Picasa.
But If we install picasa on linux ubuntu using my past article, there’s no picasa photo viewer included. I think, picasa photo viewer is one of the feature that you needed to see view your picture nicely.
I’am already test the picasa photo viewer on my ubuntu 8.04 and 9.04, so i thinks it’s secure.
First of all, is downloading the debian package here, Keep in mind that this photo viewer support for picasa 3.0
    Just run the installer :

    sudo dpkg -i PicasaPhotoViewer-1.0.3.deb

To use Photo Viewer inside Gnome Nautilus right click on the file (with file type you want to associate with Picasa Photo Viewer) Open with > Open with other application… > Use a custom command > PicasaPhotoViewer

    That’s all :D

    Written on 12 May, 2009 – 10:25 pm | by dedyisn | 202 views

Sometimes when you have a mmc that has been corrupted by virus, you cann’t do anything. When you want to remove the file in that in MMC, it will say that the file was corrupted or the file read only file system . So we can not remove even we in root account . If you have file that you want recover, just save it first to your harddisk , cause after format, the file in MMC will be delete .
To format , first open terminal :

    fdisk -l

This command to show the disk that mounted in your system
    example

    Disk /dev/mmcblk0: 1027 MB, 1027604480 bytes
    4 heads, 16 sectors/track, 31360 cylinders
    Units = cylinders of 64 * 512 = 32768 bytes
    Disk identifier: 0×00000000
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System

then unmount it ( x is depend on your memory )

    umount /dev/mmcblkx

    Format it by typing :

    mkfs.vfat /dev/mmcblkx

    That’s all
Doing it by your own risk :D
