did you know about picasa ? Picasa is software that helps you instantly find, edit and share all the pictures on your PC. Every time you open Picasa, it automatically locates all your pictures (even ones you forgot you had) and sorts them into visual albums organized by date with folder names you will recognize. You can drag and drop to arrange your albums and make labels to create new groups. Picasa makes sure your pictures are always organized
First of All, make sure you have add Google’s package signing key, Run this command as root :

sudo wget -q -O - https://dl-ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub | apt-key add -

Picasa ready in linux and windows. To using it on windows add this repository to /etc/apt/sources.list:

deb http://dl.google.com/linux/deb/ testing non-free

After that, do update

sudo apt-get update

After update was finished, install picasa package using command :

sudo apt-get install picasa

Run picasa and locate all your pictures . It wil sort them into visual albums organized by date with folder names you will recognize

I like picasa, it makes finding the right image from my collection of thousands easy. I didn’t realise Google had a debian repository with builds of their software ready to go. Thanks for sharing!Comment posted using Mozilla Firefox Mozilla Firefox 3.0.10 on Windows Windows XP

Thank you for this nice and quick howto.

    This saved my day!

But most of the commands have to run as root. Maybe you can prepend a “sudo” in front of all apt commands.

Thank you anyways!Comment posted using Safari Safari 530.19 on Mac OS Mac OS X

The first commando should have the sudo after the pipe, wget commando does not require run as root.

Thank you very much anyway.Comment posted using Mozilla Mozilla 1.9.1.4pre on Ubuntu Linux Ubuntu Linux
