Tested on : Ubuntu 9.04 and hardy 8.04 by dedyisn

If you using windows, you may be always use winamp to play your mp3 file. In Ubuntu, you can use xmms to play that file. the interface look like winamp and some feature/plugin that i like is this xmms can use to mute or hide vocal of the song
This is how to install xmms and i have try it on ubuntu jaunty and ubuntu hardy 8.04 :
#add this repository to your sources.list (/etc/apt/sources

deb http://www.pvv.ntnu.no/~knuta/xmms/intrepid ./

#do update

apt-get update

#Install xmms

apt-get install xmms

This command will install 4 library that needed to make xmms running well. the library are libglib1.2ldbl (1.2.10-19build1), libgtk1.2 (1.2.10-18.1build2), libgtk1.2-common (1.2.10-18.1build2), libmikmod2 (3.1.11-a-6ubuntu3)
But if you have follow my past article about download non-free-codecs, then when installing xmms you just need xmms and libmikmod2 package
After installed was finished, you can run xmms in two different way :

- by press Alt + F2 and write xmms , then run

- by create new launcher on desktop and in name and command form, type xmms. ( you can change the icon by press the default icon )

So Installed xmms is finished, now you can remove the xmms repository that you have added before in sources.list to avoid problem in the future cause you not need it again
