Acer 4520 and Ubuntu hardy

I’m Using 2 OS Windows XP and Ubuntu Hardy Heron On My Acer 4520
The Specification :
AMD Turion X2 Dual Core 2.0GHz
DDR2 Memory 2 GB
HDD 12GB SATA - VGA nVIDIA 256MB
WiFi - DVDR/W Super Multi - Bluetooth 2.0+EDR
1.3 Mpx Camera - Card Reader
14.1" Wide XGA - Weight 2.49 Kg

I Have Installed Windows XP first and Then Ubuntu.

I’m Using Ubuntu8.04 amd64 for my Laptop. Wired Network, Sound Card is Otomatically Detected. For Nvidia Accelerated Driver, I Installed it from System - Administration - Hardware Driver. Then i make check for Nvidia Accelerated Driver. after that it will download the .deb package and require restart.
After That my Screen resolution become 1280*800.
If it doesn’t work you can use commadn in Terminal :

#sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx-new

For Using Crystal Eye Webcam

#sudo apt-get install cheese

For Using Wifi ( I am using Broadcom )

For another broadcom version you can follow this article

There is one problem that i’m not yet find for the solution. My Modem still can’t Work ( I am using Agere Modem )

Install Another aplication :

Internet Explorer for Linux - Make sure you have installed cabextract

wget http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/downloads/ies4linux-latest.tar.gz
tar zxvf ies4linux-latest.tar.gz
cd ies4linux-*
./ies4linux

Install Flash Player

sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree

Add important Repository ( From this repository, you can install realplayer, mplayer, googleearth and another important package )

sudo wget http://www.medibuntu.org/sources.list.d/hardy.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install medibuntu-keyring && sudo apt-get update

Ubuntuku Error

Hari ini saya agak kecewa pas nyalain laptop
Mau login di ubuntu tapi malah error yang didapat. X server nya error jadi nggak bisa dapat GUI Interface. malah dapatnya cuman pesan dengan blue screen :

"Could not start the X server (your graphical environment) due to some internal error. Please contact your system administrator or check your syslog dialog to diagnose. In the meantime this display will be disabled. Please restart GDM when the problem is corrected.

Dibawahnya sih disediain fasilitas untuk tty, tapi mau dipake apa ? ( masih bingung …).
Nyari di google, tapi rata-rata belum ada solusi ? ( apa solusinya harus install ulang ? )
mungkin gara-gara tanganku yang gatal, edit sana sini ( nggak jelas, kadang nggak mikir ), cuman gabungin tutorial yang dapat dari bang google. Padahal belum tentu itu untuk Laptopku, belum tentu itu untuk Ubuntu ku, akhhhhhhhhhhhh
Sementara, Laptop kudiamkan dulu, siapa tahu "dia"*read=ubuntu cuman error sesaat. mungkin ntar bisa bagus lagi *ngarep .

Ubuntuku, Jangan buat aku harus menginstall ulangmu, Install dari awal membosankan. Sudah sekali aku melakukan install ulang. Mungkin masalahmu simple, tapi aku tak tahu, Beri aku jawaban.Aku sudah lupa semua dengan settingan yang pernah aku lakukan. Kenapa dari dulu aku nggak melakukan backup- *emang dah tahu caranya .

ada yang bisa bantu nggak yah ?

Wireless Broadcom success on Ubuntu

Seminggu yang lalu, saya bermasalah dengan settingan wireless di Ubuntu Hardy Heron. Setiap kali reboot, wirelessnya selalu aktif tapi tidak bisa digunakan. Kalau menggunakan perintah iwconfig . Untuk Signal Level dan Qualitynya 0 . Padahal Kalau menggunakan perintah iwlist scanning , Signal levelnya kuat. Masalah disini, wirelessku tidak bisa mengakses AP tersebut. kadang kadang berhasil dan kadang kadang juga tidak. Akhirnya kemarin setelah browsing di google , sekarang wirelessku sudah bisa aktif sejak reboot.  berikut Langkah-Langkahnya :

Pertama sih kita mengecek versi dari chipset broadcom dengan perintah :
lspci -n | grep '14e4:43'
Install Ndiswrapper dan Blacklist Driver bcm43xx
echo ‘blacklist bcm43xx’ | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
sudo apt-get install ndiswrapper-utils-1.9
mkdir ~/bcm43xx; cd ~/bcm43xx
Download and install the Driver
Untuk saya, versi chipsetnya : 14e4:4311 (rev 01)
Untuk versi lain dapat berpatokan dengan link :

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx/Feisty_No-Fluff

pada bagian step 2 Download the Exact Drivers
Kalau di saya, saya mengikuti step 2a

sudo apt-get install cabextract
wget ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp34001-34500/sp34152.exe
cabextract sp34152.exe

Langkah ketiga : Konfigurasi BCM43xx - dan NDISWrapper (serta WPA Supplicant)
sudo ndiswrapper -i bcmwl5.inf
ndiswrapper -l
sudo depmod -a
sudo modprobe ndiswrapper
sudo cp /etc/network/interfaces /etc/network/interfaces.orig
echo -e 'auto lo\niface lo inet loopback\n' | sudo tee /etc/network/interfaces
sudo ndiswrapper -m
echo 'ndiswrapper' | sudo tee -a /etc/modules
echo 'ENABLED=0?' | sudo tee -a /etc/default/wpasupplicant
Lalu lakukan :

sudo rmmod b43
sudo rmmod b44
sudo rmmod b43legacy #this step added Apr 27 2008
sudo rmmod ssb
sudo rmmod ndiswrapper
sudo modprobe ndiswrapper
sudo modprobe ssb
sudo modprobe b44 #this step added May 1 2008

Supaya wireless bisa aktif sejak booting, lakukan :
echo -e '#Hardy ssb/ndiswrapper workaround, added' 'date' '\ninstall ndiswrapper modprobe -r b43 b44 b43legacy ssb; modprobe –ignore-install ndiswrapper $CMDLINE_OPTS; modprobe ssb; modprobe b44;' | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/ndiswrapper
