Instalasi Ubuntu karmic di Compaq CQ20-412TU

Compaq Presario CQ20

Pada dasarnya instalasi Ubuntu di Compaq CQ20-412TU sama seperti instalasi Ubuntu pada PC-PC yang lain. Tahap-tahapnya pun sama , tinggal plot partisi mana yang akan digunakan. Untuk permasalahan partisi ini, saya hanya menyediakan 2 partisi, 1 untuk swap area dan 1 untuk root (/).
Setelah instalasi, Audionya langsung dikenali sehingga bisa langsung digunakan. Untuk Memutar Mp3 , saya hanya perlu melakukan update dan instalasi paket Ubuntu Restricted Extras . Selebihnya tak ada masalah.

Permasalahan yang saya temui yang cukup menyita waktu saya adalah masalah wifi Broadcom BCM4312 (rev 01) yang tidak langsung di detect oleh Ubuntu Karmic. Saya perlu menginstall ndiwsrapper dan menginstall driver wifi untuk Broadcom yang saya download dari situs Hp/Compaq.
Caranya :

Saya memastikan wifi yang saya pakai adalah Broadcom BCM4312 (rev 01) dengan perintah :

lspci -vnn | grep 14e4

tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now tar

do you ever see this error when tar some file :

Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

This error usually happen if you not type correctly the file that you want to extract or you use it on wrong directory. Sometimes after download some file, the file will stored in /home/[username]/Desktop . But when you follow article in some blog, they will not guide too detail. sometime we just give you the important command, because we think we don’t have to explain it too deep. But some people need it too. So I write this article
