tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now tar

do you ever see this error when tar some file :

Cannot open: No such file or directory
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
tar: Child returned status 2
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

This error usually happen if you not type correctly the file that you want to extract or you use it on wrong directory. Sometimes after download some file, the file will stored in /home/[username]/Desktop . But when you follow article in some blog, they will not guide too detail. sometime we just give you the important command, because we think we don’t have to explain it too deep. But some people need it too. So I write this article

Install pidgin dan facebook plugin di Ubuntu karmic

Pidgin Facebook Chat

Pada Ubuntu karmic koala, Klien pesan instan yang default adalah empathy. pada rilis rilis sebelumnya Ubuntu setia menggunakan Pidgin. Sampai sekarang ini saya belum menemukan fitur yang sangat berbeda antara empathy dan pidgin sehingga Ubuntu memutuskan untuk memakai empathy. Salah satu yang saya tahu adalah kemampuannya untuk chat di room and voice chat untuk google talk
Setelah sekitar seminggu saya mencoba empathy , saya memutuskan untuk kembali memakai pidgin karena fitur chating di facebook yang belum bisa di empathy. Walaupun memang di forum-forum memang ada yang membahas cara membuat empathy bisa menambahkan fitur facebook, tapi setelah mencoba berulang kali ternyata tidak berhasil
Jadi kembali deh ke pidgin …
Instalasi pidgin seperti biasa :
sudo apt-get install pidgin
Untuk plugin chatnya
sudo apt-get install pidgin-facebook
versi pidgin-facebook ini masih 1.60, jika anda menginginkan versi yang terbaru, anda dapat mendownloadnya langsung website developernya : Pidgin-facebook
Install filenya dengan perintah :
sudo dpkg -i pidgin-facebookchat-1.63.deb
Sesuaikan dengan direktori tempat anda menyimpan file pidgin-facebookchat-1.63.deb yang baru anda download. Atau anda dapat langsung menginstall pluginnya dengan klik 2 kali file pidgin-facebookchat-1.63.deb, pilih install package, lalu dilanjutkan dengan memasukkan password root anda
Restart pidgin anda, dan voila… anda tinggal menambahkan akun facebook anda pada menu account

How to play mp3 and another restricted codes in ubuntu karmic 9.10

By default, ubuntu doesn’t include mp3 codec when we installed it on our Desktop, We need to install the codec first to make it work. if not, when we play mp3, it will give us output :

An Error Occured
The playback of this movie requires a MPEG-1 layer 3 (MP3) decoder plugin which is not installed

All you need is install the restricted package ( Ubuntu restricted Extras ). Make sure you already update your repository list by command : sudo apt-get update
To install the codecs, use command :

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras

This is will install mp3 codec, Sun java6 plugin, cabextract, microsoft font, and another library. The size is about 60 Mb. After install it, you can test your mp3 file in your favorite player
